Enlisting help is a great way to help your fundraiser get off the ground without a hitch! Volunteers can help with planning, preparations, execution and tying up loose ends after the fundraiser.
The first and most obvious way to enlist help is to turn to your family, friends and co-workers. You would be surprised at what the people you already know can bring to the table.
Another way to enlist help is to turn to service oriented groups. These groups could be a part of your local environment, like the Kiwanis or Rotary clubs. They can also be from your current school, your alma mater, or your child’s school. Groups that would fall under this category would be honor society, key club, college Greek organizations, college service organizations and college sports teams. All of these groups and more are usually required to participate in volunteer activities or philanthropies. These groups tend to support the organizations that they have a connection to. If you have a connection to the group, you can easily get their help even if they haven’t heard of Column of Hope.
To keep your team energized and in the loop, it is often appropriate to have meetings with your volunteers. This may be for preparation of your fundraiser. You can also have a pizza party or barbeque for your volunteers after the fundraiser is over. It is important to thank your volunteers and let them know you appreciated their help. Thank you notes are a great way to do that as well.
